Hello students. I will teach you the fundamental skills in drawing, both conceptually (knowledge of different art supplies, and colour theory) and from observation (studying from life, and copying masterworks). Furthermore, we will study the anatomical composition of a human body, which includes proportion, shading, expression, and other principles.

My courses are useful for beginners, and for anyone interested in realistic, academic drawing techniques.

I am a dual national of Finland/USA. I hold a BA in Western Art History, and a MA in Literature from Leiden University. I hold a minor in Acrylic Painting at The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (Netherlands).

I am friendly and easy-going, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! My timetable is flexible.

Extra information

I can bring all necessary art supplies to use only during the lesson. Homework requires that you have your own pencil, eraser, ruler, and paper.

Whether you are a complete beginner or have already studied art, this class is for you. Tuition is designed specifically for you. During the first lesson we will establish goals, discuss your preferred learning style, and tailor the program to meet your needs, whether it is getting better at expressing yourself through art or preparing for architectural entrance exams in Finnish universities. I will teach you how to paint using traditional mediums, as well as draw, sketch, and come up with ideas when you need to, not just when you feel inspired.
