Having trouble with quantum mechanics? Can't make sense of operators, eigenvectors, eigenfunctions, perturbations and so on? Then you've come to the right place! I can help you with any questions that you have regarding both the mathematical and the conceptual sides of quantum physics (with the latter being in fact even more important than the former!) At my lessons you will get: - clear explanations with analogies, examples and striking visualisations - guided problem practice with a gradual increase in complexity - lots of curated resources, both textual and audiovisual
You will learn Latin the way it was meant to be learned - through conversation! Medieval scholars and contemporary language researchers alike advocate the use of dialogues and comprehensible input for language acquisition, and it most certainly works! As opposed to the "memorise grammar rules and then babble them in front of the class" approach that was demonstrated by the infamous "Romanēs eunt domus" scene from Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", you will learn to feel the grammar, so that you will be able to use the different cases of Latin without even thinking about it, just like a native speaker! For this class we will be using the following books, depending on the learner's level: Hans Øreberg's "Lingua Latīna per sē Illustrāta" "Corderiī Colloquia" Erasmus Rask's "Colloquia Familiaria" John C. Traupman Conversational Latin for Oral Proficiency I will be the collocutor and I will answer the learner's questions and explain certain oddities solely in Latin (I will use a second language only when the situation calls for it) We will also engage in free-form conversations, discussions of the dialogues, of our life experiences etc so that the learner can apply what they learn to real-life situations and expand their vocabulary
You will learn the syllabus necessary to pass A-levels, GCSE's, and after that we will walk through past exam papers together. Your homework will include solving similar problems and practice problems on your own, the solutions will be reviewed at the start of each subsequent lesson.
You will learn the most important theoretical aspects of physical chemistry necessary for solving problems at National and International Chemical Olympiads and put them to use in a myriad of problems from previous Olympiads. We will walk through the solutions for problems from the Olympiads of different countries: Canada, Germany, France, Russia, Poland, and others. All problems will be translated into English, so you will be able to access material that your peers can't. Homework will include solving other problems from past Olympiads and doing simpler practice problems. Additionally, we will look at the practical applications of the theories and what philosophical implications they might have. Key manuals for learning the syllabus: Atkins & de Paula Elements of Physical Chemistry P. Monk Physical Chemistry Eremin V.V. Theoretical and Mathematical Chemistry Syllabus: - Phenomenological Thermodynamics - Statistical Mechanics - Electrochemistry - Phenomenological Kinetics - Theoretical Kinetics - Crystallography - Phase Diagrams - Quantum Mechanics - Chemical Bonding (VB, MO, Hückel theory) - Spectroscopy (UV-Vis, IR, NMR) - Radiation & Radiochemistry - Biochemistry - Polymer Chemistry - Colloidal Chemistry - Nanochemistry
