Saxophone, flute, classical&jazz theory, solfege, preparation for conservatory auditions

    Hi everyone,

My music adventure started with playing piano when I was 8 years old. When I was 14, I got accepted from Istanbul University State Conservatoire and started to play flute and saxophone. After I graduate, I went to Marmara University Music Education department in Istanbul and graduated in 2016. In the same year, I moved to the Netherlands in order to study jazz music. I graduated from Prince Claus Conservatoire in 2020 and moved to Berlin last January for work and my master programme.

I used to perform on various genres with different setups in lots of different venues in Istanbul and Europe. I mainly play contemporary/experimental music, but also enjoy playing and teaching pop, jazz, classical, blues, funk, soul, latin, afro-jazz.

Cello lessons in Berlin by UdK student for intermediate and advanced students
I am studying artistic-pedagogical training (instrumental pedagogy profile) with a major in violoncello at the UdK. I have already been able to gain some teaching experience with learners of all ages and deal intensively with the methodology and didactics of playing the cello. My technical influences come from renowned cellists and teachers. In addition, I already have a bachelor's degree in fine arts, which is why I have a holistic view of aspects of the interpretation of music and improvisation.

Bass Guitar and Double Bass Lessons from Leading British Bass Player
Teaching is very important to me; to impart knowledge to a student and see them grow musically is something I find highly rewarding. In classes (held both online and offline with safety precautions in place) I focus on each student’s individual needs and on bringing out their full potential in playing bass guitar, double bass, jazz improvisation, and composition. Individual lesson plans are created to best suit the aims of the student. I have worked as an educator for 9 years and have taught one to one lessons as well as leading popular group masterclasses in jazz performance and composition. My students have ranged from absolute beginners to advanced players. ---- Bio: Hayden is a classically trained bass player, composer, and sound artist from the UK, currently based in Berlin. His background in jazz improvisation, an interest in the space between strains of acoustic and electronic music, and attentiveness to composition acts as a connecting thread in his multiple artistic projects. Besides leading the critically acclaimed quartet Tether, Hayden also performs with his solo electroacoustic project, has worked as a touring musician for many years, and recorded on numerous albums. He also works as a sound designer for advertising, theater, and film. He holds a degree in jazz performance and composition and has been taught by some of the greatest living bass players in the world, including Drew Gress and Chris Lightcap.

Beginner to Advanced Lessons for Guitar Players for all ages
After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

With over 8 years of experience as a Solfege, Oriental Solfege, Oud, and Oriental singing teacher, I am a Lebanese musician currently residing in Mönchengladbach, Germany. I honed my skills for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. Prior to my relocation, I taught at Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and also held private music lessons. As a concertmaster, I performed with the oriental orchestra "Loubnan Assalam" for over 5 years. My move to Germany was motivated by my pursuit of graduate studies at the University of Kamp-Lintfort. Fluent in English, Couramment en français, ولغتي الأم هي اللغة العربية. Aber leider spreche Ich ein bisschen Deutsch. Solfege, the foundation of music theory, is an essential tool for any musician who wishes to understand and create music. It provides a way to identify and communicate notes, intervals, and rhythms, and it is the key to developing musical literacy. In this class, you will delve into the world of scales, exploring the unique characteristics of Western and Oriental scales. We will study the following scales: Rast, Bayet, Siga, Kord, Hijaz, Ajam, Nahawand- Major & Minor Scales. In addition to these Western and Oriental scales, we will also introduce you to the quarter note, which is not traditionally found in Western music. It is a quarter note with a unique and distinct sound. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, this class will provide you with the knowledge you need to use scales effectively for improvisation, singing, and playing any instrument. With this knowledge, you will be able to: * Read and write music (dictation) in solfège notation for both Western and Oriental scales. * Identify and communicate notes accurately in the context of various musical traditions. * Develop a deeper understanding of music theory and rhythmic concepts. * Infuse your musical performances with a broader range of expressive possibilities. We will use the book "المقامات الشرقية by Georges Farah" as the main reference for our study of Oriental solfège. This book is considered the best book in the Middle East to teach Oriental Solfège. Discover the power of solfège to enhance your musical skills and open up a world of new possibilities!
