The focus of this class is to give the students the tools they need to speak the English language with confidence and fluidity. It aims to attend to the responses of the question: "What are my weaknesses when I try to communicate in English?" My goal is to provide challenging, interactive and FUN lessons and activities that all attend to the student's particular experiences and needs. Some of the students I have had the pleasure to work with include: - Doctors who travel internationally for work - Students needing a tutor for the Cambridge exams - Individuals who do public speaking. - Small companies and start ups who do business abroad - Adults who simply want to improve grammar I assign homework activities and periodic progress reports via Google Docs. We utilize audio/visual and reading material found online, so having a smartphone or tablet in class is helpful, but not required. If you want to get speaking NOW then this class may be
The TOEFL and SAT are standardized tests that most North American universities use as an entrance requirement for non-native English-speaking students. In order to be competitive, structured practice is a must. Moreover, having someone well-versed in each test at your side to guide you will increase your chances of getting into the school of your choice. For First Timers: We spend time becoming familiar with the structure of each section and how they are scored. This sets the student up with a "game day" mentality as test day approaches. Then we start diving into untimed practice sessions so they become familiar with the test questions and answer choices. Following this first phase, we move on to timed practice sessions, in which students can use their newly attained knowledge against the clock. We start with individual sections and then move on to larger chunks. For Those Who Have Already Taken the Test: For these students, we may take an approach that is specific to the areas that the student needs to improve. This usually requires our addressing knowledge gaps in required Math and Standard English concepts. With this system, I'm happy to say that I've helped increase student scores by up to 40%! In this class, we will set up a lesson plan that is specific to your unique learning style. It aims to carefully attend to your weakness(es) while achieving marginal gains in your stronger areas of the test. You will maximize your score by learning how to: - Be mindful of and avoid common test-taking pitfalls. - Take clear and effective notes - Structure your speaking and writing responses - Outlining - Use the test timer as a useful tool - Employ savvy time-saving tactics

My son, Zack found Marton very easy to work with and thoroughly enjoyed the lesson. Zack is sitting the SAT in September. Marton was happy to provide help with more than just the SAT agreeing to read his personal statement. Highly recommended.
