19€I am interested in giving private language classes (French, Spanish and English) to people of all ages.
The first thing I do is to identify what stage of learning the learner is in and, from there, it provides me with the application of materials necessary to implement a teaching programme. The methodology is adapted to the intended language level, the learning objectives, the age of the learner, the language needs and difficulties. I teach languages in a gradual way, as clearly as possible and making the student feel comfortable, without making him/her feel afraid or embarrassed. I attach as much importance to the theoretical explanation as to the application of theory, and I require my students to be proactive (interactive and participative). When I teach languages, I teach understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Specifically, I teach language as a whole: I teach terminology, semantics (the meaning of morphemes and words and their combinations) and the branches of grammar: morphology (the form and structure of words), sentence syntax (the way words are combined) and word prosody (pronunciation). I teach languages by applying dynamic teaching strategies, using activities that involve the learner, such as exercises, production of written and verbal speeches, games, staging real-life situations, dialogues, debates, reading, listening to the media, etc. The teaching materials I use are effective and meet the following criteria: motivating, attractive, up-to-date (current, relevant topics), clear, appropriate (approachable), inclusive (various possibilities for interaction and different points of view), multimodal (varied), participatory, flexible (adaptable) and creative (original).

Trusted teacher: Hey there! I'm Jed, an experienced Interior Designer and overall creative professional. I have about 4 years of professional experience teaching students and training professionals when I was living in Thailand from 2017 to 2021. For this course, I use a proven program that focuses on the vocal aspect of speaking English. You will learn the phonetics of different letter combinations, discussed with detail what to do with your mouth, tongue and breathing to be able to speak more clearly. Why does this work? Our tongues are muscles! And for non-native English speakers, we need to understand and practice to make proper sounds to speak English more clearly. Please note, I will not teach grammar. The goal of this class is not to sound like a native speaking American or British, the goal is to speak English clearly with a neutral accent easily understandable by anybody. What makes this course helpful to you as a student or a professional? Confidence! Being able to converse, speak and present in your university or professional presentations. Previous students taught were native speakers of Chinese, Thai, Filipino, Arabic, Spanish and Italian. Additional info about me: I am born and raised in the Philippines, lived in the US for 2 years, studied in Canada for 4 years, lived and worked in Thailand for 4 years and living in Barcelona, Spain for 2 years now! I went to an English speaking school my whole life and I consider myself in a native or bilingual level of English. Why I do this: I am heart and soul a designer, but teaching is a very important part of my life, and I truly enjoy sharing experiences with people!

My main goal is to improve your speaking by using only English during our classes, as well as enhance your grammar, reading and listening skills. The classes with me are engaging and full of creativity. Moreover, I differentiate myself from other tutors by using my own methodology in teaching. My lessons are a combination of many books, where I pick the most efficient exercises to learn and make a personal "book" for each student depending on what requires more work. From time to time, I organise a group call/meeting, where my students and I communicate with each other over a cup of tea. That way, my scholars get to be in a multicultural environment, learning how to understand English with different accents and build connections with others in a new language. I have completed an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination in 2019 with a CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) level of B2. In my last EF SET (EF Standart English Test) in 2022, the results have shown an Advanced English Level (C1). In addition, I have studied bachelor's in Psychology in English for 3 years. These days, English is my first language to use in day-to-day life, which allows me to practice it 24/7, always finding something new for myself to learn. As for the lessons themselves, they are online (Skype, worldwide) or face-to-face at the student's location (Barcelona). The teacher is very professional and patient ~ the class is very relaxed and fun. The content of the class is very substantial. The teacher was very careful in correcting my pronunciation, and he would make sure that my pronunciation was accurate before moving on to the next part. I learned a lot from this class! Nick's approach is patient and thorough, informative and imaginative as well. He always comes up with his own examples in order to test my knowledge on a given exercise and helps me get to the answer at my own pace, rather than handing it to me. He doesn't use a one-size-fits-all method, but rather tailors his lesson in order to get out my full potential, even in a field I find difficult. He makes himself available for additional questions and is overall great to work with!
