At present, many technologies and tools are being used for pattern making therefore, it become necessary to understand basics of pattern making and sewing techniques. This particular course discusses about pattern making, sewing, techniques and practical activities in the context of body measurements, marking and hand stitching. The course on “Basics of Pattern Making and Sewing” aims to develop a good knowledge and understanding of garment construction skill and sewing techniques.

Here in this course, I will show how to take the right measurements for your hat. You will design your hat according to your measurements and develop your own design. I will show you some variations and how to develop them. Finally, I will sew a beret and show you step by step what to do. You will then understand how to sew berets and how to modify them to create different shapes.

In this beginner class we will learn sewing basics, getting to know your machine and sewing basics. I offer the following for a class series: Sew Your Own Mask, Sewing Your Own Skirt, Sew your First Bag. I’m open to teaching other things if you would like to learn something different.

I can help with: • Creating a vision and portfolio that demonstrates your designer DNA. • Creating a portfolio for application to a Fashion Degree. • Help collecting the right ingredients & contacts to start a fashion label. • Developing original textiles. • How to create a pattern, and how to grade it. • How to use a sewing machine, and how to sew different types of seams, collars, cuffs, pockets, hems, sleeves, waistbands, trousers & fastenings.
