I am an award winning Clarinet, Saxophone and Vocal coach from Zimbabwe with years of teaching and performance experience from leading a solo musical career and working at the Harare International School in Zimbabwe. I have recently moved to Geneva, Switzerland and am excited to find eager students at all levels keen to learn and challenge themselves in the art of making music. I have a degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music from Newpark Music Centre, a sister school of Berklee College of Music and I teach jazz, afrojazz, how to improvise over house music Djs, rhythm studies and composition, all based on classical music foundations. Bee Creative is a creative arts company that offers music, art, drama, English and Harry Potter classes! ​ Bee Creative was founded and is directed by Emily Hornsby - Martinez, a qualified primary school and music teacher, originally from England. ​​ Emily started teaching instrumental lessons at the age of seventeen in London, England and started her own company in 2010. Emily has extensive experience in preparing students for ABRSM exams and a 100% pass rate record. She competed in various piano competitions in London, receiving medals for 2nd and 1st place. She earned a Bachelor of Music with Honours degree at City University, London, specialising in classical and film composition with a performance module in piano and voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Emily then completed a Post Graduate teaching qualification with a specialism in music at the Institute of Education, London. Emily moved to Switzerland in 2013 to continue her teaching career in an international environment. ​ Her two specialist instruments are voice and piano, however she also taught herself the guitar and the violin and can teach these at a beginner's level. ​ Two of Emily's greatest strengths are building excellent relationships with students and the ability to teach in a fun and creative way which engages the student. ​​ All classes at Bee Creative are created by Emily and are accessible for every student and designed with a student-centered approach. The singing lessons allow to develop the voice pose, the development of the artistic personality, the vocal technique and the development of the voice through various styles. Learn to master the head voice, chest voice and mixed voice as well as the various types of voice: belting, saturated voice, falsetto,… in order to be comfortable in the different styles! The body plays a central role in the singing technique. I specialize in teaching vocal technique (classical and modern) in order make the student aware of how he uses his or her whole body in order to produce and maintain a nice sound. I always try to tailor my lessons according to the student needs and find out the best way to engage in performance. Lessons usually begin with a small talk in order to find out about the students hobbies and interests. It is surprising how useful this is as it gives me more ideas on how to focus my teaching. Furthermore, I give a small theory talk that describes anatomically what organs are involved in producing sound so the student can have a practical understanding on how singing works.
