Hello everybody! Welcome to my profile! Have you always wanted to know more about rhythm, percussion and drums? Then you are in the right place! :) My name is Giovanni, I'm an italian percussionist currently living in The Netherlands and studying at Codarts music school in Rotterdam. Latin music is the field I explored and studied the most, especially music coming from Cuba and Brazil: two different and at the same time similar worlds that boast an incredible and extremely interesting music culture. Talking about Cuban music, my main instruments are congas, bongos and timbales, together with all small percussion (guiro, maracas, clave, shekere). I will guide you through the different music styles that developed in this wonderful island during the past 200 years, such as salsa, son, rumba, cha-cha-cha, mambo, songo among many others. About the Brazilian side, I can teach you how to learn to play the pandeiro, in all its different styles and rhythms, together with the timbau, the repique, the dobras, the surdo and many other instruments that belong to this amazing tradition. In my musical career, I also got to play and studied other types of percussion that belong to other traditions. To name one, the cajon, originally coming from Perù and later incorporated in spanish flamenco, is another fascinating instrument, and incredibly versatile when it comes to play many styles of music, especially western pop and funk music: it can really function as a substitute for the drums! Talking about drums, I will be happy to guide you through the study of this marvelous instrument as well, starting from the basic techniques until the study of all the rhythmic possibilities that this instrument gives. The trombone, trumpet or piano seem hard instruments to learn, but with the right approach it's a fun and enjoyable process filled with small tasks that will make you improve and have fun at the same time. The same goes with music theory and composition; the classes are structured in a way that you wont feel overwhelmed with too much information because the goals and method will be set based on your level and needs. It's also not important if you cannot read music, I can help you with that as well. If you are already a singer, we will work in order to refine your technique. Voice, breathing, and posture are connected and fundamental for a healthy technique so we will also work on that while we focus on your voice. My name is David, I'm a trumpet player, composer, and conductor based in Rotterdam. I started to study music when I was 8 years old and I get the Professional Music degree in the specialty of classical trumpet at the Conservatory of Noia (Galicia, Spain) and I've been playing Jazz since I was a teenager. In my country, I have been a student with teachers such as Paco Charlín or Abe Rábade, whom I have considered my mentors for years, but I have also studied and attended numerous masterclasses and workshops with internationally renowned teachers such as Michael Phillip Mossman, Antonio Hart, Darren Barret, Michel Camilo, Logan Richardson, Orrin Evans ...etc. With 18 years working and studying the trumpet, I have been fortunate to play with numerous artists and projects such as Phillip Dizack, Nelson Cascais, Kyle Poole, Dyna Stephens, Walter White, L.A.R. Legido, Jesús Santandreu, Pontejazz Big Band, CSM Big Band and also with different groups and orchestras of dance and Latin music. As a teacher, I have experience teaching in different schools, teaching trumpet lessons, music theory, and choir and ensemble conduction, working with both young children and adults and the elderly, aged between 4 and 85. I am an italian bass player, I'm 25 years old and actually I am finishing the last year of my bachelor in jazz music at Codarts.
