Folk or classical acoustic guitar. The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation. For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...). For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...). Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. I have played the flute for more than 20 years, and have been teaching since 2011. I offer flute lessons to children aged 8 and up, and adults at all levels from beginners to post Grade 8. I also teach recorder to younger beginners- I find this is a good stepping stone for younger children as it's more comfortable for smaller beginners to hold, and easier to make a sound on. Learn to pass exams or just for fun- many of my students achieve highly in ABRSM and Trinity grades, but some prefer not to take exams and this is fine too. Whatever your level, one to one tuition means that I can tailor my teaching to your needs as a flute player, and my teaching takes into account the reasons you learn an instrument, encompassing a wide variety of repertoire. I also teach music theory- lots of students come to me to help prepare for Grade 5 theory, and I also teach higher theory grades.

Cathy started her music teaching career in 2015, and has been teaching students from beginner to grade 8, aged from 6 to 35 years old. She always welcomes students who wish to explore more about music, building up playing the flute as their hobby, as well as growing together with them as their role models. She feels very glad and blessed to be the teacher of her students, as well as being their sister, witnessing their growth and becoming a good friend to them. In the lesson, she would always love to play studies, and exercise, as well as play flute pieces and duets together with the students. To broaden their horizons, she would love to share different music recordings, as well as discuss the music together during the lesson. Cathy believes that it is essential for students to step out of the classroom to learn music, rather than just playing the flute. During years of teaching, she has encountered students taking different examination grades. Cathy understands the importance of choosing the pieces for students, she would love to demonstrate pieces and discuss the preferences with the students together. As the mode of having examinations has varied these years, she has already adapted to preparing students for the exams under different situations. I offer personal harmonica lessons in a variety of genres. The content is entirely based on your interests and is very much oriented towards actual playing and improvising. With me you can learn everything you need for the blues harp. From the first notes, replaying your favorite songs and special techniques to fluid improvisation and playing together with other musicians. I'm also happy to convey a solid understanding of the music theory behind the harmonica, but if you don't feel like learning theory, that's no problem for me. Transverse flute lessons from a qualified music teacher and concert flutist who has successfully taught more than 200 pupils and students for 30 years. The teaching material is always personalized and ranges from baroque and classical to jazz and improvisation. The lessons last approximately 65 minutes. As the lessons progress, the most important thing is that making music is fun while learning. Both beginners (who cannot yet read music) and professionals who also have a diploma are welcome. Newcomers who have already learned the instrument but haven't had it in their hands for several years are of course welcome. We also play together regularly - voluntarily, of course - to play beautiful chamber music such as duos, trios and quartets.
