Hello all, Spanish and French are my mother tongues. I have been teaching for many years in my spare time either in the evenings or during weekends. I simply like to do it and enjoy helping people of all ages either to start talking or reaching a good level. I use grammar books but also online exercises or games on paper depending on the needs and profile of the student.

I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Particle Physics at the University of Amsterdam. For over 8 years, I have been offering private tutoring in Mathematics and French. I firmly believe that mastering mathematical logic and a foreign language opens up numerous opportunities for individuals who are willing to invest the effort. One aspect that I particularly enjoy is the challenge of adapting my teaching methodology to suit the specific needs of each student. I'm offering French or English classes for children and adults where they would learn through games and conversations, according to their age and language level. I have a lot of experience teaching foreign languages to children, as I have been a teacher assistant and an international au pair before. I have been giving private classes regularly for the past 6 years. I can also help out with homework. I have helped Erasmus and exchange students, as well as parents and expats that have moved to the Netherlands. For adults, I can do conversational French or English lessons where the subjects vary depending on the person's interests and language level as well. I can also help choose and work from a book, if the person wishes a more structured learning environment.

My belief is that each student is different and requires a tailor made lesson to meet that student’s needs and goals. Every class is personalised for your own profile and is adapted as needed. I give priority to conversation, convinced that even from the very first day, one can start to communicate in the new language and thus gain confidence to go on. I base my courses on the four essential competencies: speaking, listening, writing and reading, always focusing on your personal goals and motivation. I progressively integrate phonetics, grammar, conjugation, vocabulary in the courses which always include practical exercises. You will also learn a lot about the culture as it is deeply linked to the language. The pedagogic materials I choose are mostly created for native speakers : texts from literature, newspapers, radio podcasts, videos, songs.... Indeed, I am convinced that the learning process has to tackle « real subjects », as languages are alive and constantly changing. My main challenge is to help the learners to be able to « think » in the second language. The debate is the heart of my classroom, but always in a playful way, through many role games — for me learning a language is first and foremost a great joy !

Being a native French speaker with a Bachelor’s in Literature and Philosophy, I can help you learn French in all its forms: oral and written comprehension, speaking, and writing. I have already given classes to many pupils (6 in total) so I have a good experience of giving classes. I am also flexible, so I can adapt to your needs and to your schedule.
