I have a Masters in International Relations awarded by Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, one of the world's most elite schools for International Relations, economics, and politics. I have taught various subjects including world history, geography, economics, political science, and of course English. I have two certifications in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), one from the International TEFL Academy and the other from the TESOL International Association for teaching English in an online setting. My course content from my certifications included teaching children and adults of all levels as well as teaching for IELTS and other standardized tests. I have taught adults in both in-person and online settings as well as children from the ages of 14 to young adults. I have taught English to Beginner level adults and children with Intermediate to Advanced level English comprehension. I am comfortable teaching in a public space, your private home, or over Zoom. In addition to the content you or your child will learn, I also go above and beyond other tutors by incorporating life skills into the material that I consider to be important skill in every day life. These skills include note-taking, research and citations, listening for context, essay writing, creative writing, speaking for emphasis, and vocabulary expansion. Given my 'jack-of-all-trades' professional background, my teaching style is different from most other teachers and tutors. It is difficult to put into words here, but I have been told by previous students and my TEFL course instructors that I make it easy for anyone to learn what they are trying to learn. That's because I go the extra mile and don't settle for average. If something isn't working or if you are not understanding, I approach the lesson from a different perspective until you do understand. So let's get started! We will begin with a Needs Assessment that I will provide for you to fill out, then a Skills Assessment so I can get a better idea of what your speaking, listening, reading, and writing comprehension is. This is something most tutors do not do for their clients, but I do with mine because it gives me a clear idea not only of what you want to learn but what your skill level is.
