My name Is Camilo and I am an Experienced international chess player that speaks English, French, and Spanish. I am a 1700+ rated chess player that has participated in clubs and tournaments throughout my career with 5 years of tutoring experience. Being trilingual has allowed me to teach people from all over the world. I first began by helping children with their French and Spanish as well as their organizational skills. However, I ended up gravitating toward my passion which is chess. I have various courses and modules prepared for each session. I also adapt very well to the level of experience of each student and what their goals are. Over three years I have developed a syllabus for my students, which includes: lesson 1 Chess Board and Pawn movement, Lesson 2 Review of Pawns, Lesson 3 The Bishops, Lesson 4 the Rooks, lesson 5 the Knights and the Queen, Lesson 6 the King and Checkmate, Lesson 7 Pawn Promotion and Stalemate, lesson 8 Castling, Lesson 9 Drawn games, lesson 10 Checkmate, Lesson 11 opening principles, and the Lesson 12 forking. This method has shown to help all of my students but as I said before I am happy and very capable of adapting to each student. This, of course, means that for my more advanced students I have a different syllabus for them more advanced lessons like for example “Pinning”. I also always prepare a puzzle for each session to challenge my students in various ways. I love tutoring because I am still young and therefore tend to develop great relationships with my students. Chess is of course my passion so joining both is a dream of mine. I tend to teach younger students from ages 6-18 but don't mind other age groups. I worked with children that went to my old school which is the Lycee Francais de New York. Feel free to contact me at any time, I will really try my best to work with your schedule. I hope you will give me an opportunity to help you because this is truly an amazing game!

Thibault - Brussels, BelgiumC$100
Trusted teacher: ♟️ Why take lessons? ► Are you a busy adult with limited time and don't know what or how to work on to progress in chess? ► Are you the parent of an ambitious child and do not know how to guide him in his progress? ► Are you a beginner player wishing to discover the game with a titled player, in a good mood? Then this announcement is for you and taking private lessons will save you a lot of time! Indeed, with my experience and my mastery of the game, I am able to: ► To establish a coherent and effective work plan adapted to your level, whatever it is. ► To identify your shortcomings very quickly and to find a remedy. ► Provide or direct you to resources that meet your needs. ► To flesh out the discovery sessions of the game with personal anecdotes or concerning its fascinating history. Overall, I am able to accelerate your progress in a fun and effective way. ♟️ Course of the first lesson: Ideally, the student sends me some parts of him as well as a brief description of his personal objectives before making contact. Then, during the first lesson, we get to know each other around an educational part. ♟️ General course schedule: From the second lesson, we begin the analysis of your games. I ask you to provide me with games that you have played from which I select the most didactic. I teach primarily based on my students' parts because lessons learned from personal experience stay longer and more easily remembered. However, I sometimes show famous and/or illustrative parts when it seems relevant to me to do so to support a point. After a few sessions, I have a very precise idea of the state of your knowledge and I am able to personalize the course according to your needs. From then on, I provide you with exercises and recommend resources that correspond perfectly to the aspect of the game that you must work on to progress as efficiently as possible. ♟️ Topics covered during the courses: My goal is to make you a complete player! I have accompanied several players from a beginner level to an advanced level (2000+), and I know the different steps to take to become a good player, as well as the methods that work to achieve this. Among the topics that we cover in the course and that I help you master are (more or less in order): ► Basic masts ► The importance of the material ► Simple mating patterns ► Simple tactical diagrams ► The 4 basic principles for a successful opening ► Elementary endings to effectively end a game ► Basic strategy: strong / weak side, development of a coherent plan at the exit of the opening, improvement of the pieces ► Candidate moves Then, for more experienced players: ► Advanced tactical diagrams ► A complete and effective opening repertoire, adapted to your style and your level ► Advanced endgames: Activity of the king, passed pawn, activity of the pieces, majority on a wing, etc... ► Advanced strategy: pawn structures, open file, the 7th row, attacking the king, weaknesses, strong squares, prophylaxis, reading the opponent's plan, evaluating a position, exchanging the right pieces, etc... ► Calculation ► Chess creativity ♟️ Classes with children: I adapt my course in order to capture their attention constantly, I ask them funny and relevant questions so that they retain the lessons easily. I make sure that they are participants in the lesson and not spectators. I generally end the lesson with a game against them where I expressly leave a few errors lying around, so as to create spontaneous didactic moments (sometimes with a hint!). A brief summary of the mistakes made during the game follows, which serves as a hook for the next lesson. Two of my students (with whom I have been working for 2 years) finished 1st and 5th in their respective age categories at the last Belgian youth championships. ♟️ Courses on the internet: For online lessons, I use Discord or Skype to chat and share my camera, as well as the lichess platform to analyze and show games or exercises. The latter has a tool allowing the teacher and the student to interact on the same chessboard in real time, and to show ideas using arrows and colored boxes. The student can find all the previous lessons at any time by consulting the work sessions archived on the platform. ♟️ Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. I am available in case you have questions outside of class, I am happy to answer them. I am flexible if ever a course had to be moved due to an unforeseen event. ♟️ Languages: Classes can be given in French, English and Dutch. ♟️ In summary: I am professional, pedagogue and available. You lose nothing by contacting me! Don't be afraid if you are a beginner, most of my students are.
Trusted teacher: Do you want to improve your chess skills with tailor-made chess lessons from an avid chess lover and tournamet player? Do you want to increase your understanding of the game, become sharp or simply boost that online rating to dazzle friends? Or maybe you want to prepare for tournaments and enter the professional chess field? If you answer yes to any of the question, you're in the right place! Hi, my name is Michał and I am a medicine student and an active chess player. I've played the game since I was 8 years old and I won my first tournament at the age of 10. Since then, I have won dozens of tournaments and progressed my FIDE rating up to 1970. Now, at the age of 21, I am approaching my first (national) title of candidate master, which I hope to achieve soon. My approach to the teaching is very much based on the individual student and his goals. I am of the belief that whatever you want to achieve in chess, you should study all aspects of the game and during our classes we cover many different topics, such as tactical patterns, endgame techniques, positional play, openings, and more. We solve thematic puzzles, analyse the games of chess masters, games of the student, and obviously... play! The lessons take place on lichess.org with video-call and I'm using the account 'TheCoachChampion'. You can check some of my games if you want, just go to the site. A lesson lasts at least one hour but can be longer. Who are my lessons for? Pretty much anybody who shares with me the passion for chess.

Nathan - Paris, FranceC$46
Trusted teacher: Online chess course - all levels (Zoom/Skype) This course is intended for all players from beginner to competitive club player. Here is my approach, but you can also focus on a very specific subject. I adapt to your request, while proposing methods tailored to you. Thus, I will be able to accompany you to reach your goals. My approach: My approach is oriented towards a deep understanding of the game: - practice (playing games but also playing specific positions) - post-mortem analysis (of games played) - the great classic games (but also current ones) - targeting the gaps (this is where the progress is most felt) The best way to progress in chess is to accumulate experience by playing regularly, and by analyzing your games. Also, you know the Confucian proverb: "You must learn from the mistakes of others. You will never live long enough to make them all yourself." We will study all phases of the game (openings, strategy and endgames), focusing on your main areas of improvement. See you on the chessboard!
Leyla - Ixelles-Elsene, BelgiumC$42
Trusted teacher: Every child is capable of learning anything. All that matters is the correct approach that suits your little genius. I always teach in the unique style and make complex concepts super easy for kids to understand, using analogies and real life examples. Chess is not only about the game, it is about the ability to always think a few steps ahead. It is especially important to develop that skill since childhood. Using 64 squares as an example, your child will also develop important critical and analytical thinking skills, patience, and discipline with this game. We will start with the basics of chess, and develop towards playing a full, well-structured game. The typical length of the lesson is 1-1.5hr. I aim at teaching chess to complete beginners and intermediate levels for youth under 14 years of old. The lessons can be taught in English, Russian, Turkish, and Azerbaijani. I have been playing chess since I was 6, I was twice Azerbaijani chess champion among girls under 12 and under 14. I participated and ranked in international tournaments held in Czech Republic, UAE, Georgia, Russia, Bulgaria etc. I hold Bachelor of Electromechanical Engineering from KU Leuven.
Trusted teacher: I propose to give lessons from beginner level up to 1800 level, for all ages (from 6 or 7 years old) and whatever your goal (beat a friend, his dad or become a competitor) . I have particularly a very good contact with children and teenagers. The idea is to learn without worrying, in complete relaxation. Course schedule: The lessons take place by Skype, via the sharing of my screen (and the diagrams that I select). Sometimes we will have to do some exercises on Liches to make sure that the concepts have been understood. The Internet has the advantage of efficiency, the diagrams being already ready, it even goes faster than live and I could see that this support does not prevent the creation of human links. However, for the students of the Orleans conurbation, I can with great pleasure welcome you to my home. All my lessons are prepared with great care and are truly individualized. On each theme, the lessons are therefore adapted to the level and objectives of the student. Depending on the wishes of the students as well as their strengths and weaknesses, I propose to address the following aspects: - The openings : I make sure that my students have acquired the essential principles of openness (rapid development, takeover of the center, securing the king). Then, after studying the student's play style (rather positional or more attacking), we build, adapt or deepen his repertoire of openings. The idea is as much to understand the spirit of an opening as to know long variants by heart. After learning the theoretical basics, we will see the games played by the best players practicing your favorite openings of my student. - Party backgrounds: It is mainly about building plans. A chess player should think of himself as the general of an army. And no general shows up on the battlefield without a well-established plan, under penalty of stinging defeat! For this, we can also look at the different schemas and attacks of the opponent's weaknesses (weaknesses of the king or weakness of the pawn structure). Beyond the tactical sacrifices immediately winning the game, we may also be led to see when to sacrifice equipment to develop a sustainable initiative. We will also sometimes have to study some recurring pawn structures in the openings made by my students and how to maneuver based on that. - The finals It is sometimes a bit tedious but it is an essential factor of progression. The Russians, who dominated chess for decades, used to start by studying the finals. It is rather what I recommend. This is all the more essential since very often at the end of the game, time is short and fatigue begins to be felt. Knowledge of the most classic final patterns therefore allows you to earn many half points. - Analysis of your games Learning from mistakes is a great way to progress. We will therefore engage in this exercise whenever necessary. - Training plan Often when you want to progress you don't know where to start. I therefore propose an hour or two of lessons devoted to how to maximize the time spent studying chess. - Psychological aspects of the game How to rebound after a defeat? How not to ignite too much after a series of victories? How to manage the pressure of competition? How to manage your time in the different cadences? How to prepare against an adversary that we know and that scares us? Here are some of the questions that this module will answer (non-exhaustive list). Do not hesitate to contact me, I am at your disposal for more information!
