About Me

My name is Jannes. I was born and raised in Flanders. I studied translation at the University of Antwerp and graduated with highest honors. I’m specialised in Russian and Dutch. After graduating I started my studies at the conservatory of Leuven, where I studied the violin. In addition, I’ve been playing the piano for about 15 years. Currently, I’m specialising in classical singing as a countertenor.

Teaching is something that I reall enjoy. I guess it comes from my willingness to help people. I love to see people motivated and eager to learn and exchange knowledge and skills. I have worked as a language teacher for several private schools before and have given violin lessons in the past as well.

I’m very flexible in terms of what a learning process should look like, since everyone is different. Having mutual trust and being comfortable with each other is also very important to me.

Super
Great teacher!!☝🏾✨
Jannes is a very nice teacher: he has his own material and explains everything as many times as necessary. Since he's a linguist, he has a in-depth understanding of the Dutch language.

Thanks to its rich sound and endless possibilities, piano has become one of the most played instruments. Do you also like the sound of this instrument, but no idea where to start? I’m here to help you with the basics. I’m a conservatory student (violin) who has played piano at an intermediate level for several years now. I speak Dutch, English, Russian and basic French.

Everything is possible! Going through the process of language learning can be hard, but together we can make it interesting and nice.

I’m a conservatory student who has experience with teaching at a beginner and intermediate level. Boris
A Royal Conservatory Brussels student with a Yamaha grand piano teaches piano, theory and solfege for all ages and all levels.
Whether you want to play just for fun or to become a professional pianist I can give you a personalised course. At the beginning of the course, I will evaluate your level and give you recommendations of what we can work on. There are two main types of courses: - a hobbyist course: it won’t be time consuming. I will help you learn new pieces and a little theory and solfege. The primary goal of this course is to make you enjoy playing in your spare time without having to practice too much. - a professional course: in this course I will help you reach the level of a professional musician. I will give you an insight of how to prepare a piece or pieces for a competition or an audition. I will also teach a lot of theory and solfege so that you can prepare for a conservatory or a school of music.

Hello! Holder of a Master's degree in music and heritage history, I have 10 years of experience as a harp, music theory and musical awakening teacher in conservatories and private lessons. My career has led me to perform alone or accompanied during numerous events (recital, orchestra, theater, etc.). Defined according to the student's project, my courses aim to serve everyone's musical approach as well as possible by offering them the necessary technical and theoretical background. I aspire to help my students develop their musical personality, and to make them independent and curious. Jonas
Jazz Saxophone & Applied Chord Theory - Personalized Classes (NL ; ENG)
I focus on giving saxophone lessons to people with a solid or basic foundation who wants to improve or start improvising. This course is especially for those who feel stagnant in improving their music skills. I will actively analyse your areas for improvement and provide personal guidance and methods. I am very aware that each person thinks differently while improvising: personal exercises are given, depending on your needs. Applied music theory lessons are a support of this class. I integrate chord theory into practical saxophone lessons, making a key connection between ear and theory. I started playing classical saxophone, and I am currently a Jazz saxophone student at the conservatory of Brussels. Switching to Jazz made me analyse my own behaviour in improvising, which I find a crucial step in development. Feel free to reach out! I am also happy to give lessons to complete beginners or children as well.

"Happiness is an art to be practiced, like the violin" John Lubbock
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, Currently a student in psychomotor skills, I have been playing the violin since I was 5 years old, today I really want to humbly transmit what I know !! :) It will be a question here of co-constructing the course with my student. These courses will be developed around: -bodies warm-ups - learning music theory (underlined by singing, body percussions, etc ...) -practice of the violin, of course, with or without sheet music support (ear work) -a time for self-expression with improvisation The important thing here is to take pleasure in living the music so I hope that these proposals make you want !! Beautiful day :) Lucile C.

Musical awakening and music theory for children
In my music or music therapy classes, I adapt to the wishes of the child / adults and their parents / guardians: -I define the styles and genres of music he listens to (slow or fast) and would like to discover -I define his favorite way of expressing himself: manipulate, dance, draw in music, others -I define what we could discover: history of music, solfeggio games, feeling of rhythm, singing games, making instruments, etc ... -I want to know clearly the facilities and difficulties of the student. -I add moments of feeling of the body: walk in rhythm, type in rhythm, walk towards the treble / bass, etc ... - I add moments of relaxation by guided meditation: imagine that we are a tree, a pebble, well inspired / exhale, etc ... * In musical awakening and music therapy, my main tools are: -a music style album (to explore all the nuances and listen to it if the urge comes) Games to keep the child's attention -simple craftsmanship to make instruments -the families of instruments and baths very basic solfèges -work of the ear and initiation to the instrument with a melodica -the small percussions (eggs, maracasse, tambourine, castanets) choreography (simple) to develop coordination -music relaxation and sounds of nature * In my music theory classes, I define the knowledge to reach: -I work rhythmic and melodic reading -I make work the feeling of the rhythm and the relative ear -I explain as simply as possible the notions of rhythmic notation, armor, tone, scales, modes, intervals, etc ... * My main tools are: -solphege applications - reading aloud -Active listening and dictation -fiches on the basics of solfèges -games explaining rhythmic and harmonic solfeggio - the manipulation of small instruments to practice rhythmic and melodic music theory (because it's more fun, is not it?)
