About Me

Pian is an adventurous jazz pianist, composer and educator with a love for music that transcends genre boundaries and includes influences from R&B, pop music classical music and Oriental folk music. Her compositions are about storytelling and sharing her life experiences and emotions. Currently, her main influences are Brad Mehldau, Hiromi Uehara, Aaron Parks, Oscar Peterson and John Scofield. These artists led her to develop a deep love for almost cinematic compositions, strong melodies, emotional playing, groove and authenticity.

In 2011, She won a Golden Award of Singapore International Culture and Art Festival. In the same year, she begins her Classical Piano Performance & Art Management bachelor studies in XingHai Conservatory of Music. In the mean while, she got invited to play in “大人” concert with a pop musician Pam Chuang.

She had her first experience with jazz music whilst attending a concert of John Scofield in 2013, which opened her mind to a whole new world of sounds and artists.

In 2016, she spent 4 years to make a transition from Classical to Jazz in Maastricht Conservatorium. During her bachelor studies, Frank Giebels was her mentor and teacher.

In 2019, Pian created her original music quartet: Micro Oxygen. This project has been active in the Limburg jazz scene and performed on stages like: JazzOUT Fest Limburg, Kaleido Concerts, Jazz Contest Mechelen and Aqua Live Musica.

Great communication thanks for the experience
Pian is a very versatile Teacher and happy to tailor the lessons towards whatever style or music you wish. She offers a number of helpful tips on general technique as well that are good for improving the playing style.
Pian is a very good teacher
Pian is talented pianist and a very kind teacher. She gives excellent feedback and is always willing to help in whichever way she can. I have improved a lot since I started taking lessons with her.
My son had his first-ever Piano lesson with Pian, initially, I was worried that he would get intimidated by the complicated music notes and concepts, and immediately lose interest in learning. But Pian is an experienced teacher who knows how to lead the kids into the topic, she was methodical and patient. Myy son had lots of fun in his first lesson, and he is looking forward to the next one. Pian also had done some follow-ups, to share some learning materials with me which are very helpful. I would recommend Pian to anyone who wants to have a patient, experienced, caring and resourceful piano teacher.

Piano Lessons for children and adults from beginners to advanced level
Hello dear people, My name is Paris, I am professional pianist and piano docent. I have been teaching for more than 15 years in many countries: México, Germany and The Netherlands. I have students from 5 to 72 years old. And I am very happy to help people to achieve their musical goals.

Irina
Singing lesson, Beginners Piano, Basic music theory. Online or in person!
Hello, My name is Irina and I have been working as a professional opera singer and a singing teacher for over ten years. I recently moved from London to Maastricht where I live now with my husband and our 4 year old son. I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the Royal Academy of Music in London. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Opera, which is the highest qualification level (Level 8) in the UK Qualifications Framework. I performed in many prestigious venues in the UK, including Royal Albert Hall, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Barbican, and St.Martin-in-the-Fields. I worked with Nelly Miricioiu, Jane Glover, Vladimir Jurowski, Robin Ticciati, Stéphane Denève, and many other renowned coaches and conductors. I am currently part of the Limburg Education Tour project 'Weltatem', which is a collaboration between Het Geluid Maastricht (Romy Roelofsen and Gable Roelofsen) and Kirsten Schötteldreier. Alongside my performing career, I also have been teaching singing. I am very passionate about teaching and I believe that music, whether it is listening to a concert, playing the guitar, or singing in the shower, is good for both our mental and physical well-being. It helps us to become more self-confident, find out more about how we can use our whole body as an instrument, to express and channel our feelings, and also to relax. It is never too early or late to start. Whatever your ability, aspiration, and age is, I am happy to explore with you both classical music and musical theatre. If you can learn how to use your voice properly you will be able to sing whatever and however, you want! For children, I do not only teach singing but also beginners piano and basic music theory. It is very important to introduce music to the little ones from a very early age. And there are so many fun ways to learn. We discover and become little musicians through games, songs, dancing, movement, and acting. Finally, I can offer Russian language coaching for both amateur and professional singers. Before pursuing my dream of becoming an opera singer, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Translation from Voronezh State University in my home city. As a result, throughout my singing and teaching career, I have also been asked to work as a Russian language coach and repertoire coach on many occasions. I normally teach at my home and also online. On some occasions, I could travel to a student's home, by special arrangement. Lessons have to be taught online, if there are government coronavirus related restrictions in place. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Giorgia
Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level
I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Apollonia Maria
Beginner to Advanced Lessons for Guitar Players for all ages
After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
