I have been a professional drummer for 15 years. I have recorded several albums with different bands. I also have been touring and playing festivals with loads of bands all over the world. My goal has always been to show that the drummer should not always just be in back. The drummer should be as fun to watch and hear play as the rest of the band. So if you are interested in learning to play drums, the showmanship behind it and how you work in a band and projects. I'm a professional drummer from Spain, but living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I have studied Latin drums at Codarts, university of the arts, in Rotterdam, so I've acquired a lot of knowledge and skills on Cuban and Brazilian music, jazz, funk and Pop. I've performed in places such as: North Sea Jazz Festival, Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Tivoli (Utrecht), Jazzcafe Dizzy, etc...

Becoming a confident musician is a skill that requires discipline, dedication and hard work. However I strongly believe that whether you wish to progress your skills on an instrument to a professional level, simply get the most out of playing In a band with friends or jamming along to your favourite playlists, the art of learning an instrument is an incredibly rewarding skill. In our lessons we will focus on building a solid foundation across the basics of playing the Drum Kit. We will discover the rich and diverse history of the instrument and move through the jazz, funk, rock and pop era's of music. While I am happy to tailor all of these lessons to the student's needs, I do believe having a basic knowledge of where the instrument and it's vocabulary came from is essential and will have a positive impact on the students playing. Listening is important! We will work through a number of landmark recordings that carve the path of the Drum Kit's evolution and continue the listening process all the way to your favourite songs and how the drums affect that music and the rest of the band! I am also happy to work through ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and/or Rockschool exam grades. Music is all about communication, and being able to fluently communicate ideas on any instrument requires time and practice. However, like with your very first English lessons in school, over time you can develop the skill of communication to a point where you can exchange many different ideas and create interesting conversations (this time between musical instruments rather than your friends in the pub!). Although I understand music is a not a career for everyone, I strongly believe that learning how to play any instrument properly with discipline and good practice will enhance your life is more ways than anyone who doesn't play music will understand.

Las clases se comportan a partir de los intereses y nivel del alumno. La idea es pasarlo bien e ir armando objetivos y metas a trabajar para avanzar simultáneamente en técnica y musicalidad al momento de tocar la batería. Paralelamente hay un constante trabajo de postura, respiración y de relajación para mejorar la interpretación del instrumento y evitar lesiones a largo plazo. Usualmente la clase se divide en dos secciones, la primera con un trabajo técnico para lograr mayor soltura y comodidad al momento de la interpretación, se dan ejercicios para mejorar la lectura rítmica musical aplicada a la batería, coordinacion, velocidad, rudimentos, ejercicios de tambor y diferentes golpes donde experimentaremos con timbres. La segunda parte es práctica; ejecutaremos un repertorio a interés, practicaremos ritmos, grooves, aplicando breakes y fills de distintos estilos. Todo esto orientado a trabajar una musicalidad e intuición que permita desarrollar un "oido" rítmico, improvisar y hasta componer y arreglar temas propios. Ben je gek op muziek en zit je de hele dag overal op te tikken en te trommelen? Dan is drummen misschien iets voor jou! Tijdens de les keer je rocken en grooven op het drumstel en gaan we aan de slag met je favoriete muziek. Wie ben ik? Hoi, mijn naam is Ruben en ik ben gek op muziek! Ik ben op mijn 7e begonnen met drummen en ben er nooit mee opgehouden. Na de middelbare school heb ik aan de Rockacademie in Tilburg gestudeerd, waar ik me verder heb ontwikkeld als muzikant. Ik sta regelmatig zelf op het podium. Meestal als drummer, maar ook als gitarist. Mijn liefde voor muziek deel ik graag met anderen. Door middel van de lessen die ik geef laat ik de leerlingen ervaren hoe leuk het is om zelf muziek te maken. Dit doe ik dan ook al meer dan 6 jaar met veel plezier. Daarnaast sta ik al 5 jaar voor de klas en geef ik regelmatig muziekworkshops.

Bonjour, Je vous propose des cours de batterie dans un lieu chaleureux ou à votre domicile. Venez découvrir la batterie autrement. Ma mission est de vous aider à développer votre propre identité sur l'instrument. Je vous propose une approche fun qui se concentre sur le plaisir de jouer. Ayant suivi des formations et des cours durant toute ma vie (conservatoire, écoles...), je suis passionné et voué à vous partager l'intégralité de mon expérience. Je pratique dans de nombreux groupes de musique et autres structures (écoles, associations...). Avec plus de 20 ans d'expérience en batterie et plus de 10 ans en percussions, j'enseigne de nombreux genres musicaux (jazz en passant par la musique latine, le pop, hip hop, rock, hard, punk, metal..), la double pédale, des notions de solfège, de lecture rythmique. Possibilité de prendre des cours de percussions (darbuka, bongos, djembe africain, congas, guimbarde, dhol). Les programmes sont inspirés directement de méthodes mondialement reconnues, pouvant ainsi s'adapter aux besoins, niveaux et aux exigences de chacun. Je me déplace mais je reçois également dans un local avec du matériel à disposition (tout âge et niveau de pratique sont admis, de l'initialisation jusqu'au professionnels). Une approche différente des cours de musique : Mon enseignement est résolument moderne. Les cours sont un moment de partage musical et humain où l'erreur sert d'expérience positive pour avancer. Nous travaillons par transmission orale afin de compléter les partitions. Nous utilisons les onomatopées afin de développer rapidement un jeu musical et ressenti, plutôt que de simplement lire et reproduire. Alors... Tentés? (English below) NL: Met al een aantal jaren ervaring als drumleraar voor jong en oud, kijk ik er naar uit ook jou te helpen met het beter worden van het bespelen van dit prachtige instrument! Samen bestuderen we de basis technieken, ritmes, iconische grooves en fills, creatieve manier van soleren en improviseren en vooral het bevorderen van jouw muzikaliteit. Ikzelf zit momenteel in mijn master jazz-drums aan het conservatorium te Antwerpen en kan me dus goed inbeelden hoe moeilijk maar fantastisch leuk het is iets nieuws te leren. Klassieke muziek, Rock, Hip-hop, Latin, jazz... alles wat u maar wilt is mogelijk. Lessen kunnen gevolgd worden in Antwerpen (Ma-Vrij), bij mij thuis in Aalst (Vrij-Zon) of Online (eenders). ENG: As i've been teaching young and old for already a couple of years, i'm looking forward to help you get better at your instrument. Together we'll look into the basic techniques, advanced rhythms, iconic grooves 'n fills and overall improve your musicality. Currently i'm in my masters for Jazz drums at the conservatory of Antwerp and just like you, i'm loving learning new things and challenging myself. From Classical music, Rock, Hip-Hop, Latin, Jazz... we can look into all of it if you like. Classes can be followed in Antwerp (from Monday till Friday), at my home in Aalst (Friday till Sunday) or Online (whenever you like).
